Saving an Attached Ringtone Frustration
« on: December 01, 2014, 03:39:52 PM »
I am so frustrated with everything regarding my Moto G 1st gen, because the manual is no help.

I joined Zedge and had a ringtone sent to my gmail today.  Yes, I guess I could have just used the app but this seemed easier, somehow, guess not!

So I connected my phone and downloaded the gmail, opened the attachment and it played.  So?  Looked around and chose 'save'.

Where is it, now that it's saved?  It's not in ringtones, though I see now that, had I downloaded it - somehow, I am not sure how to do this - from Zedge, it would be in the Zedge file, which has now appeared in my ringtone file.  It's not in there, either, but I didn't expect it to be.

PLEASE, can someone tell me how to:

Find the ringtone attachment I saved
Set it as a ringtone

I know it's a steep learning curve for someone who has never had a smartphone, but honestly this phone brings me to tears when I try to do anything even remotely different from making a call or other phone things.  I am extremely frustrated and tearful.

Thank you for your reply.

I tried getting a file browser but, sadly, even though the app stated it was easy to use (ES File Explorer), I couldn't figure out how to use it so I deleted it.  It is intuitive for people smarter than I am.  All I saw when I opened the app was icons that had no useful info in them to tell me how to use them.

Sorry, I know I must sound very dumb.

I gave up on trying to find the file.  Pretty much just use the phone to make calls and send texts, as I cannot understand how to do anything else on it besides basic things like set alarm, use calendar and so on.

I think that, if you don't continually follow technology and keep up with it, you find the learning curve is really steep when you finally get around to getting something like a smartphone.

I'm sad and frustrated that I can't seem to understand things that any 10 year old kid can do easily, but that's how life goes, I guess.

Thanks for trying.

Your ringtone is probably in your downloads folder. Go to settings/sounds/ringtone, tap to change, it will ask you where to go, do NOT go to media, click on the other option. Then go to download folder and choose your ringtone. Downloading the actual ZEDGE app will make it easier for you next time. And yes, with technology advancing as fast as it is, the learning curve is a little annoying, but patience and willpower can push you through
